You can never have enough left-handed pitching and Jay Johnson’s search for stud arms never stops.
2026 left-hander Spencer Krasner out of Cooper City, Florida, recently made a visit to Baton Rouge the weekend of the LSU home football opener against Nicholls.
The 6-3, 185-pound Krasner currently has offers on the table from LSU, Ole Miss, South Carolina, Oklahoma State, North Carolina and Wake Forest.
(self scouting report) “Fastball, slider and change-up for me. Always filling up the strike zone and always attacking the corners. For me it is always about winning the race to get to 0-2 (count). That’s always been the biggest thing for me.
“I got up to 91 this summer on the fastball and the breaking ball is 74-75.”
Krasner said the biggest reason LSU got one of his first visits is the quick connection he has developed with the coaching staff.
“You're talking about a school that has always been a powerhouse program and the facilities are awesome,” he added. I always dreamed about visiting there and it definitely lived up to the hype.
“I arrived on the Thursday of that game week and we got to go have some great food. On Friday we got to hang out with all the other recruits that were there and got to tour the athletic and academic facilities. Saturday we got to go to an awesome baseball tailgate for the football game. Everyone we interacted with was so accommodating and nice. Just a great visit.”
Krasner got to hang out and make some new friends in current LSU players Maverick Rizy, Cade Arrambide and Derek Curiel.
“A lot of young players, which was nice,” he said.
While the sales pitch to Krasner wasn’t anything new in terms of player development and success, he admitted it did really land for him.
“How they see me as a player really hit home for me in a good way,” he said. “LSU players get drafted, plain and simple. They sold me on the simple steps of coming in here and doing your job and developing, getting drafted and then moving on to the next level. I couldn’t agree with them more.”
Set to take more visits, most likely to the schools that have offered him, Krasner said the process of announcing his commitment is relatively close to happening in terms of a timeline.
“I’m actually glad the LSU visit was my first one because it really set the bar. All the other schools really have to live up to that or exceed it. That’s why I wanted LSU first.
“I think right now I’m looking at around Thanksgiving week to make a decision. That would probably be the latest that I would commit.”
